The Marlins
Primarily a covers band from Manchester, UK, The Marlins play a variety of tracks from The Rolling Stones to Kasabian, The Who to Jamie T.
The foundations of the band were dug when a friend of a friend introduced Jack Carpenter to Tom Ash in a bar on Quay Street in 2003. At the time Jack was a lead guitarist seeking an enigmatic front man for his band The Superfinks. The band’s former front man, Ben Martin, fancied his hand at drumming and with old school friend, Ed, on bass, Jack was on the hunt. On that fateful night, Jack was overwhelmed by ‘Tommy’s’ fresh approach to music, love, life and booze; it wasn’t long before the two began writing songs.
Before long The Superfinks became Corbieres, Corbieres became The Luckies and The Luckies became The Marlins- the band that we know and love today. Tommy Marlin (lead vocals/ rhythm guitar), Jack Marlin (lead guitar/ backing vocals), Chris Marlin (bass guitar/ backing vocals and Gareth ‘G’ Marlin (drums/ percussion). With Jack Marlin leaving the band to find his fortune in the U.S. in early 2017, Tommy Marlin, Chris Marlin & G Marlin began work on a new set-list as a 3-piece.
The first gig was spectacular. The venue: none other than Manchester Town Hall and thanks to Rich Marlin (Sound Engineer) for falling in love and making the whole thing possible (that’s a different story). The Special guest of the evening was none other than Manchester legend Clint Boon.
The band clicked and began touring the UK and continue to play music anywhere and everywhere.
